La Paz, October 1 (Prensa Latina) Bolivia will create the Nelson Mandela Award since 2015 and deliver it to people, institutions or organizations with outstanding work in the fight against racism and discrimination, officials said.
Deputy Minister of Decolonization, Felix Cardenas said they chose the name of the late South African president to pay tribute to be an icon of world peace and the fight against apartheid, a system of racial segregation established in your country.According to the senior official, every year the Bolivian committee against racism and discrimination decorates only media that support this movement, but after 2015 include individuals, activists and institutions.
Cardenas said the delivery of the new distinction has the tentative dates on May 24, national day against racism, and on October 8, 045 enactment of the law against discrimination.
Nelson Mandela (1918-2013) was president of South Africa in 1994-1999, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993, and received numerous international awards for being an example of struggle for world peace.
