Investigate whether antibodies flames can help in the fight against HIV

Researchers at University College London explained in an article in the journal PLoS Pathogens' who came precisely antibodies flames because they are composed of a single gene, in contrast to humans and most wildlife whose antibodies are composed of two genes and therefore need to be matched. Another advantage of this mammal antibodies is that they are smaller and bind to the virus without obstacles.
During the study, four flames neutralizing antibodies that target the areas affected by the virus and bind to cells, helping the body fight disease were identified.
The discovery represents a new stage in the development of vaccines against the virus, because so far no other antibody managed to do something. Most important is the prospect of taking prophylaxis of virus, which until now was considered impossible.

The researchers admitted that there are still many aspects to be investigated, but argue that the discovery is no less important because it could be applied in the future in humans.
